Patty Elnicky
Violin & Viola
Troy (Wed) & Waterford (Sat) – $30 per half hour
Patty's schedule in Troy is currently full. She has limited availability in Waterford.
Patty has been playing viola since the 6th grade, and participated in Clawson’s orchestra and choir programs. She also played in Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Fairlane Youth Chamber Music Guild, and the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra. While at U of M, Patty also sang in the Women’s Glee Club and The Harmonettes – one of only three A Cappella groups on campus at the time. Patty graduated from U of M with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Psychology.
Patty has performed with many community orchestras, including Oakland, Rochester, Warren, Macomb, Saginaw and Flint. She also plays in string quartets for weddings and receptions, and plays both violin and viola in pit orchestras for high school and community theater productions. Some of her favorite performances were with a nostalgic vocal trio called The Satin Dolls, performing hits of the 1940s and 50s. Patty holds a K-12 teaching certificate in music, and taught orchestra, general music, choir, and math and reading intervention until her retirement in 2021. She now works as a string specialist in the sales department of Luck’s Music Library.
Patty teaches violin and viola lessons to students of all ages and ability levels, and is excited to be teaching lessons again at McCourt’s Music after a two-year hiatus. Her teaching objective is to help students achieve their own personal goals, whether preparing for a recital or solo and ensemble, getting extra help with school or youth orchestra music, or fulfilling a lifelong goal of learning to play a stringed instrument.
Books & Materials Needed
Learning materials will be determined at the first lesson. Students will need their own instrument, and a music stand for practice at home.
