We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have about lessons or how to acquire an instrument. Please email or call any of our locations to talk to a sales associate.

Who are our instructors?

All of our instructors are independent contractors who have been through an intensive interview process and understand our goals, objectives, and philosophies here at McCourt’s Music Group. Each has an extensive resume and is highly qualified to teach their particular specialties. Many instructors are available on several instruments allowing you to choose the instructor that fits your needs based on experience, availability, pricing, and personality.

How do I choose an instructor?

All of our instructors schedule their lessons themselves. We are here to help you pick the one that suits your needs. Visit our lesson instructor pages on our website to find the one for you. You can email them from our website or call one of our locations to talk to a sales associate who can help you find a match. Our instructors should respond within 48 hours. All lessons are held at one of our locations in one-on-one rooms with glass pane doors.

When are lessons?

Lessons are available during store hours at each of our locations. They are typically 30 minutes long, once a week. You schedule your lessons directly with the instructor according to the days and times that they are available.

How much do lessons cost?

Each instructor sets their own rates. The average cost of a lesson is $30 per half hour. You pay your instructor directly and most instructors offer convenient monthly payment plans.

Do I need an instrument?

Yes, you will need an instrument in good working order to give yourself the best opportunity to learn. The McCourt’s Music Group offers affordable monthly rentals on all band and orchestra instruments. We also have full service repair departments to keep your instrument in top notch playing condition.

How do I get started?

First, choose an instructor. Then, contact that instructor to set up an appointment for your first lesson. Should you have any questions or do not receive a return call from your instructor, please feel free to call any McCourt’s Music or Detroit Violin Co. store for assistance. It’s a good idea to show up a few minutes early to your first lesson to make sure you get settled and are ready to get started at your scheduled time.
