Kyrstin Jensen teaches band and orchestra at Royal Oak Middle School, and is the marching band director at Royal Oak High School. She has been a private lesson instructor at McCourt’s since 2010, and has worked with all levels of students. Kyrstin is highly passionate about music education, and is always looking for more opportunities to share her love of music with her students.

Kyrstin holds a Bachelors of Music Education from Central Michigan University. During her time at CMU, she studied saxophone under Professor John Nichol, and performed in many of the top ensembles including Jazz Lab 1 and The Central Wails Saxophone Orchestra. Kyrstin was a soloist at the 2017 Region V North American Saxophone Alliance Conference, where she also performed as the bass saxophone player for the CMU Sax Ensemble. Having been involved with the Blue Lake International Program since 2013, Kyrstin spent two summers touring Europe as a counselor and the lead alto and tenor player with the Jazz Ensemble, and currently directs a jazz band at the camp.

Ms. Jensen is unable to accept any private students enrolled in Royal Oak Middle School or Royal Oak High School Marching Band due to a conflict of interest.
