Violin & Viola

Waterford – $30 per half hour

Jenna graduated summa cum laude from Oakland University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She has a concentration in Instrumental/General Music Education K-12. While at Oakland she studied violin with Elizabeth Rowin and played with the Pontiac Oakland Symphony, the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and the OU Chamber Orchestra (principal second violin) in addition to various chamber ensembles as well as the OU African Drumming ensemble.

Jenna has been teaching privately since 2006 and has been with McCourt’s/DVCo since January 2007. She is extremely passionate about private teaching and is incredibly fortunate to be able to teach privately full time. Jenna also works part-time for DVCo in addition to hosting her private studio here. Currently, Jenna is the assistant-principal second violin in the Orchard Lake Philharmonic under the direction of Norm Logan.

Prior to her studies at Oakland, Jenna attended Miami University and was a 2008 graduate of Waterford Kettering High School. Outside of her musical endeavors, Jenna is also a certified yoga teacher.

Hobbies/Interests

Jenna’s other interests include stand up paddleboarding, health and wellness, cooking, reading, and attending music/theatre performances.

Books & Materials Needed

Appropriate materials will be determined during lessons. Students will need their own instrument. A shoulder rest is a mandatory accessory that may or may not come with the instrument you acquire. Students will also need a music stand and tuner/metronome for home practice.
