I am committed to guiding students in their pursuit of music at all levels and abilities. Music study is personal, and has unique meaning for every student. A good private instructor will recognize and identify the individual needs of each student, and design an instructional plan to address each of them. Private lessons are successful when they are meaningful, challenging, inspiring and fun.
Mr. Jensen holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. He has enjoyed a successful teaching career in the Royal Oak School District for the past 30+ years, teaching band, orchestra, guitar, music theory, and jazz band. He is also on the International Jazz faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
Mr. Jensen’s performance experience is extensive. In addition to regular appearances with the Detroit areas biggest bands on trombone, trumpet, and flugelhorn, he has performed with the Temptations, Four Tops, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and many others.
Hobbies/Interests
When not performing or teaching, Mr. Jensen is an avid golfer, and enjoys fishing, kayaking and other outdoor activities.
