Troy - Woodwind & Saxophone Specialist

Ian is a woodwind technician and saxophone specialist working in our Troy location. With his private customer repairs and also assisting with the abundance of woodwind and brass instruments for the store’s rental stock, you will rarely find Ian without an instrument in his hands.

Ian holds multiple degrees in music. First, he earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2013. Secondly, he earned a Master’s in Saxophone Performance from Ithaca College (IC) in 2015, where he studied with renowned saxophone pedagogue Dr. Steven Mauk. While attending IC, Ian took multiple classes in instrument repair that sparked his interest in the career.

Ian joined the McCourt’s family in 2015 as a private lesson instructor and quickly found his way to a bench to join our repair staff.
